Ephraim Mutalange
UkaniManje Music Director and Co-Founder

Ephraim is affectionately known as “Son of Africa” due to his long-standing popularity as one of Zambia’s favorite Gospel singers.  In addition to the seven albums Ephraim has released, and the multiple local and international awards he has won, Ephraim remains engaged in community outreach and activism.  Ephraim has been involved with HIV prevention in Zambia since 2006.

Katy Weinberg, MBA, MPH
UkaniManje Executive Director and Co-Founder

Katy has been involved in HIV awareness and prevention efforts in Zambia since 2006 when she served as an HIV Volunteer for the US Peace Corps in Mpika, Zambia. Since that time, she has continued working on HIV in the United States as a case coordinator for HIV positive individuals in the Bronx, giving her a broader prospective on HIV. Katy’s global health experience includes managing the Global Health Program at Boston Children’s Hospital from 2015 through 2019.

Esther Chungu
Award Winning Gospel Artist and Activist

Ms. Chungu is a Zambian gospel music sensation whose 2016 debut album had multiple hits and led her to be honored with multiple awards for her contribution to music in Africa. Besides her work with UkaniManje, Ms. Chungu is an advocate for a number of causes that affect Zambians including food security and youth empowerment.

Dr. Emmanuel Makasa, BSC.HB, MBCHB, MPH, M.MED
Ministry of Health, Zambia

Professor Makasa is a trained orthopedics and trauma surgeon. He is a former Fulbright Scholar currently working as a Ministry of Health (MoH) Consultant Surgeon based at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTHs) in Zambia. Professor Makasa is a public health expert with a clinical background and extensive experience health policy, global health diplomacy, academics and research.

Shupekile Mwansa, BSC
World Vision, Zambia

Ms. Mwansa is the IT Project Manager for Global Implementations for World Vision Zambia. Ms. Mwansa has 17 years of experience working for World Vision and is Co-Director of Start Up Grind, a global program for economic empowerment. Ms. Mwansa also advises and is on the Board for various community-based NGOs in Zambia. She holds a BSc in Computer Science from Copperbelt University.

Mwila Musonda (aka Slap Dee)
Award Winning Rap Artist and Music Entrepreneur

Since starting his career in 2006, Mr. Musonda aka Slap Dee has remained one of Zambia's most popular hip hop artists. He was named by CNN as one of the top 10 best artists in Africa for 2019. Mr. Musonda also founded and runs a successful music management business and record label, XYZ Entertainment, which represents many of the most popular young musicians and rappers in Zambia.

Dr. Archana Patel, MD, MPH
Boston Children’s Hospital & University Teaching Hospital, Zambia

Dr. Archana Patel is a pediatric neurologist specialized in epilepsy at Boston Children’s Hospital. She also spends several months a year working as a Visiting Lecturer as part of the Paediatrics Department at University Teaching Hospital in Zambia, focusing on improving neurologic care for children in the country. She serves as a consultant for the World Health Organization on issues regarding child development and neurological conditions.

Allegra AlcoffCountry Director

Served three years under the U.S. Peace Corps in Eastern Province, Zambia. She designed and facilitated 35+ trainings as a volunteer. As an HIV/AIDS facilitator, Allegra collaborated with Zambia’s Ministry of Education provincial and district officials, master trainers and 24 schools and administrators to plan and conduct high quality PEPFAR funded Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) trainings. She conducted needs-assessments for schools in high-risk areas to improve teachers’ knowledge and comfort level with CSE and supported the DREAMS project by linking targeted schools to SRHR services, including Referral trainings for guidance teachers.
